How Long Does Amazon USA Launch Take from India? Realistic 2026 Timeline
The honest answer: 21 days if everything goes perfectly, 45 days realistic, 90 days for complex products (apparel with CPSIA, beauty with FDA, etc.). Here is the day-by-day breakdown based on the actual launch logs of 12 LLCs we have onboarded.
Fast track (existing brand, simple category): 21 days.
Realistic (new brand, validation needed): 35-45 days.
Compliance-heavy (kids apparel, beauty, supplements): 75-90 days.
Slowest step: EIN from IRS (10-14 business days, no shortcut).
What's in this guide
Day 1-3: Discovery and prep
What happens on the call and right after.
Day 1 (call day):
- 30-minute discovery call (free)
- Walk through your product, target US price, monthly volume
- Honest feasibility check: does the math work?
- If yes, written quote within 24 hours
Day 2-3:
- Sign service agreement
- Pay setup invoice (LLC formation, etc.)
- Submit documents: passport, address proof, LLC name preferences
- Set up shared Google Drive for documents
- Add you to our project management dashboard
Day 4-10: LLC + EIN
Day 4-5: Texas LLC filed with Secretary of State. Certificate of Formation issued within 3-5 business days (faster if you pay $25 expedite fee).
Day 6: Operating Agreement drafted and signed remotely (DocuSign). EIN application (IRS Form SS-4) faxed to IRS.
Day 7-15: Waiting for IRS to issue EIN. This is the slowest, most boring step. The IRS processes foreign-LLC EIN applications in 10-14 business days. There is NO shortcut. Avoid services claiming "24-hour EIN" - they either require an SSN or charge $500 to lie.
Pro tip: While waiting for EIN, start your brand work (logo, packaging) in parallel. Do not wait.
Day 11-15: Banking + branding
Once EIN arrives (~day 15):
- Apply to Mercury or Relay Financial bank account online
- Account approved in 5-7 business days
- Wire transfer from India tested with a small amount
- BOI report filed with FinCEN (30-minute task)
Parallel work happening:
- Logo design completed (3 directions, 2 rounds of revision, 5-7 days)
- Brand book finalized
- Product packaging dielines sent to your factory in India
- Amazon Seller Central account creation (needs LLC certificate and EIN)
Day 16-22: Freight in transit
This is when your inventory is moving from India to United States.
If sea freight (the typical choice):
- Day 16: Pickup from your factory in India (Mumbai, Nagpur, Bangalore, Chennai)
- Day 17-18: Container consolidation, export documentation, port loading
- Day 19-22: Vessel sailing begins. Atlantic or Pacific route, 18-22 days transit.
If air freight (rush):
- Day 16: Pickup from factory
- Day 17: Air export from Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore
- Day 19-22: Arrival in Houston (IAH) or DFW, customs clearance, last mile to our warehouse
Note: if you pick air, this stage compresses to 5-7 days. If you pick sea, this stage takes 25-32 days total (which is why most rushed launches use air for the first batch).
Day 23-28: FBA prep and inbound
Inventory has landed at our US warehouse.
Day 23: Receiving, scanning, photographing each unit. Sample units sent to you for QC verification.
Day 24-25: FBA prep begins. FNSKU label application, polybagging, bubble wrap where needed, kitting if applicable. 48-hour SLA.
Day 26: FBA inbound shipment plan created in Seller Central. Amazon assigns destination warehouses. Box and pallet labels printed.
Day 27: UPS or FedEx pickup scheduled. Boxes leave our warehouse.
Day 28: Boxes arrive at Amazon FBA warehouse. Status changes to "Receiving" in Seller Central.
Day 29-35: Live listings
Inventory is at Amazon. Listings should be live.
What was happening in parallel:
- Listings drafted by day 20 (title, bullets, description, images)
- Brand Registry enrollment (if you have a trademark) by day 25
- A+ Content created by day 28 (if Brand Registry)
- Storefront pages designed by day 30
Day 32-35: First customer-facing sale possible. Inventory marked "In Stock" in Amazon. Buy Box won (you are the only seller). PPC campaigns can launch.
Day 36+: First sales and scaling
Once listings are live, the real work begins.
Days 36-45: First organic and PPC sales. ACoS will be 40-60% in week 1 (normal). 5-10 reviews accumulated. Listing optimization based on customer questions.
Days 46-90: ACoS dropping to 25-35%. 25-50 reviews. Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display campaigns added. Replenishment freight planned (3-month inventory cycle typical).
Days 91-180: Mature operation. ACoS at 15-20%. 100+ reviews. Buy Box stable. Considering Walmart or other channels.
What slows the timeline
Realistic things that add weeks:
- Compliance certifications: CPSIA for kids products (4-6 weeks). FDA registration for beauty (2-3 weeks). FCC for electronics (4-8 weeks).
- Trademark registration: US trademark takes 8-12 months for full registration. But Brand Registry access can sometimes happen on "Trademark Pending" status (4-6 weeks earlier).
- Custom packaging from India factory: If you are doing custom-branded packaging (not generic), the factory needs 3-4 weeks lead time.
- Photography: If you need professional product photography in the US (recommended for premium brands), add 1-2 weeks.
- Inventory quality issues: If we receive damaged or non-compliant inventory, you pay for replacement and lose 2-4 weeks.
The 21-day record
The fastest launch we have ever done: 21 days for an existing Amazon India seller expanding to USA.
How: they already had branded packaging, the LLC name was approved on day 1, they paid for IRS EIN expedited handling (limited cases), they pre-paid for air freight, and they had a US trademark already filed. Most launches do not compress this much.
