Furniture is where FBA economics break down and a cubic-foot 3PL starts to win. Think14 stores, inspects and ships large items from an owned Texas warehouse.
In most categories you optimise for unit count. In furniture you optimise for cubic feet and for the handful of parcels that arrive damaged, because both scale against you faster than revenue does.
Carriers bill large light items on volume, not actual weight. A flat-packed chair can cost three times what its scale weight suggests, and no amount of negotiation changes the arithmetic.
Large parcels take more handling and more impacts. Corner crush, leg damage and punctured cartons are the normal failure modes, and the replacement cost on a furniture item is severe.
Amazon prices oversize fulfillment and storage in a way that makes slow-moving large items genuinely unprofitable. This is the clearest case in ecommerce for merchant-fulfilled shipping.
Past a certain size the shipment stops being a parcel and becomes LTL freight, with pallets, appointments and a different cost model entirely.
We charge $0.50 per cubic foot per month on the space your stock actually occupies, which for furniture is the only honest way to price it. There is no per-pallet minimum and no oversize surcharge tier, so a slow-selling sofa costs you storage and nothing else.
Inbound furniture gets inspected carton by carton on receipt. Transit damage from your supplier is identified at our dock and reported with photographs, which is the only point at which you can realistically make a freight claim. Finding it when a customer opens the box means you absorb it.
Outbound, we ship parcel where the item qualifies and LTL freight where it does not, on negotiated rates. For items that need a pallet, we palletise, wrap and book the collection. For anything requiring white-glove or room-of-choice delivery, we will tell you that is a specialist last-mile service rather than quietly promising it.

We are a warehouse and fulfillment operation, not a white-glove delivery network. We do not provide in-home assembly, room-of-choice placement, or two-person delivery with old-item removal. If your product genuinely needs that at the doorstep, you need a specialist big-and-bulky last-mile carrier and we will say so rather than take the business.
We also do not do furniture manufacturing, repair or refinishing. Light assembly and kitting we can do; structural repair of a damaged item we cannot.
What we do well is the part in the middle: receiving, inspecting, storing at honest cubic rates, and getting the item onto the right carrier class without it being damaged in our building.
Run the numbers on a single oversize SKU and the pattern is usually stark. FBA charges an oversize fulfillment fee per unit plus storage that compounds on volume, and adds surcharges for aged inventory, which punishes exactly the slow-turning large items that make up most furniture catalogues.
The same unit held in a cubic-foot 3PL and shipped merchant-fulfilled pays storage proportional to its actual footprint and a shipping cost you can see and negotiate. For many furniture SKUs that is the difference between a thin margin and no margin.
The catch is that merchant-fulfilled means the delivery performance is now yours, which is why same-day dispatch matters. Our FBM fulfillment service covers how that side works.
$0.50 per cubic foot applies whatever the item size. There is no separate oversize storage rate to absorb.
Slow-moving large items are the ones FBA punishes hardest. Here they cost space, not penalties.
Carton-level inbound inspection with photos is what makes a supplier freight claim possible at all.
Standard parcel through to palletised LTL freight. We store and ship large cartons and flat-packed furniture. What we do not offer is white-glove in-home delivery or assembly, which needs a specialist last-mile carrier.
$0.50 per cubic foot per month on actual space used, with no oversize tier and no pallet minimum. For furniture this is usually dramatically cheaper than FBA oversize storage.
Yes, carton by carton, with photographs of anything damaged. That report is what lets you claim against your supplier or freight carrier, and it has to happen at receipt to be useful.
Yes. We palletise, wrap and book collection on negotiated freight rates, and ship parcel where the item qualifies for it.
For most large, slow-moving items, yes, because FBA oversize fulfillment and storage fees plus aged-inventory surcharges hit this category hardest. The trade is that delivery performance becomes your responsibility.
